In short
Iyar is the Hebrew month between Nissan and Sivan, entirely inside the counting of the Omer. Its name is read as an acronym for Ani Hashem Rofecha, I am Hashem your Healer. In this framing healing is not the removal of symptoms but the restoration of flow, and the month holds both ancient days like Pesach Sheni and Lag BaOmer and modern ones such as Yom HaZikaron, Yom HaAtzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim.
Iyar - The Month of Healing
“Iyar” (אייר) is an acronym for “Ani Hashem Rofecha” (אני ה׳ רפאך)
“I am Hashem, your Healer.”
shefa
- flow of energy - from the higher worlds into the body and soul. So healing is
bringing things back into proper order and flow
… but how ?
Physical Healing
The body is constantly renewing and repairing itself. But when there are blockages—like stress, inflammation, or imbalance, whether physical or emotional, that natural healing process slows down.
Illness, in this view, results from a blockage or misalignment in that flow.
Spiritual Healing
The soul is also always connected to Hashem, the Source of Creation and Life. Spiritual healing is the process of removing the fear, control, and doubt that block your connection to your soul and to Hashem.
The Western model of healing focuses on eliminating symptoms and restoring comfort.. “take a pill.. do not get to the core of the issue” But in Judaism, healing is about listening to the invitation of pain and moving obstacles out of the way so the natural state of wholeness can emerge.
You are already a vessel of light.
The work is simply to remove what hides it.
A way I like to remove “stuckness” is through dancing freely, just moving, surrendering to my body, I dance my feelings, my soul, my thoughts, I move what is stuck and I leave feeling AMAZING and connected to my neshama and purpose.

The Most Israeli Month
So we know that we have ancient holidays like
and
that shaped who we are thousands of years ago.
But we also have
modern
days—things our grandparents or even we ourselves have lived through.
The Holocaust. War. The creation of Israel.
This month they sit right next to those ancient stories on the same calendar.
Iyar is where it all collides. The ancient and modern. Even though we do not have a “big holiday like Pesach, we have biblical and modern days which make this month unique.
27 Nissan
(around Iyar) — Yom HaShoah (Modern)
→ National day honoring the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust
4 Iyar Yom HaZikaron
(Modern)
→ Day of mourning for fallen soldiers and victims of terror
5 Iyar om Ha’atzmaut
→ Celebration of Independence Day (1948)
14 Iyar
— Pesach Sheni (Biblical)
→ A “second Passover” marking a second chance to do what you missed
18 Iyar
— Lag BaOmer (Biblical)
→ Passing of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai - the father of KABBALAH
28 Iyar
— Yom Yerushalayim (Modern)
→ The day we won back Jerusalem
Let’s not forget that this entire month we count the omer leading up to Shavuot on the 6th of Sivan. (Biblical)
The mix of old and new holidays remind us that being Jewish is not just about preserving the past or “living in the ways of our foremothers” it’s about carrying the legacy and creating our own, its about revival of this land, building this country, this future and it takes war, blood, lives lost, it took the holocaust and everything else we went through in the four corners of the world. Trauma we still carry.
But through it all we are living the rebirth of Am Yisrael (the Jewish people) IN REAL TIME and it is something I feel so blessed we can be part of.
May it be a month of healing individually and collectively, may the pain of our nation wake us up, bring us closer and bring final peace.
Don’t forget to keep counting the Omer, my last email was about it if your want to be reminded x
All my love Yarin
