In short
Tu B'Av is the fifteenth day of the Hebrew month of Av, six days after Tisha B'Av. In Temple times the young women of Jerusalem danced in the vineyards in borrowed white dresses so that nobody could be judged by wealth. It is often called the Jewish day of love, and it marks the turn from mourning toward joy at the end of Av.
Tonight is
Tu B’Av
- the 15th of Av. 🌕
It’s one of the most
mysterious
days in the Jewish calendar.
It’s said to be THE HAPPIEST DAY of the year... yet you may have never even heard of it?!
Unlike almost every other holiday, there are no rituals, food. Nada.
So what’s the big deal?
Not the Jewish Valentines
People often call Tu B’Av the Jewish Valentine’s Day.
It’s true that during the time of the Temple, it was a day of matchmaking.
The women of Jerusalem would dance in the vineyards, where they would meet their future spouses.

How romanticccc.
But this is the amazing part!
The women didn’t wear their own dresses.
They borrowed each other’s.
The rich borrowed from the poor.
The poor borrowed from the rich.
Why?
So that no one would be judged by what they were wearing.
For one day, wealth and status disappeared.
The only thing that mattered for one day was the light of the woman’s soul.

TRIBES THEN. TRIBES TODAY.
Many other things happened on this day, one of them was when divisions within the tribes were healed.
Today we have our own tribes.
Religious and secular.
Left and right.
Charedi and settler.
IT’S ENOUGH
The hatred within us is a greater threat than the enemies outside us.
So today, I invite you to do three simple things:
🤍

Pray.
If you’re single, don’t only pray to meet your soulmate. Pray to become the person who can build a holy relationship. If you’re married, pray for deeper love, friendship, and peace in your home.
Dance.
Put on music. Move your body. Let your body become a prayer.
Reconnect.
Reach out to someone you’ve become distant from. PUSH YOURSELF.
The Bridge to Elul
If you’ve been feeling...
Like you’ve lost yourself.
Like this year disappeared.
Burnt out.
Disconnected from God.
Unsure what’s next.
Tired of repeating the same patterns.
You’re not alone.
Maybe you don’t need a holiday.
Maybe you need a pause.
In two weeks
the most spiritual month of the year begins.
These
30 days can change the next 365.
Most people wait until January to reset their lives.
Judaism has been doing this for over 3,000 years…
Every year, before Rosh Hashanah, there’s a 30-day window designed to help you reflect, let go of what no longer serves you, and consciously step into the year ahead.
It’s called
.
Starting
August 12
, we’ll embark on a journey to make the most of the most spiritually significant season of the year.

Is Tu B'Av the Jewish Valentine's Day?+
It is often called that, but the heart of the day is equality and repaired division: the women borrowed each other's dresses so no one could be judged by status.
